Affirmations to go with the Ten Commandments

Anne created these fort the teleclass on the Ten Commandments:

Affirmations to Accompany the Ten Commandments

1. “I am the Lord thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. Thou shall have no other Gods before Me.”

I am the Law unto myself. As I think, speak and believe, so it shall be. The law of myself is all knowing, I have access to all wisdom. The law of myself is everywhere present, through my thoughts I can touch people anywhere on this planet and beyond. The law unto myself is Omnipotent, having all power. I choose to use my authority and power with integrity, kindness, wisdom and love. I love the Law knowing that as I speak my words they cannot come back to me void. My word IS LAW.

2. “Thou shall not make unto thee any graven image.”

I know my thoughts shall not be distorted by other peoples opinions. I know my decisions come from my authority and are always chosen in wisdom and accuracy to present success and well being in my world.

3. “Thou shall not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain”

I will always uplift the name (law) of God in me. I will never think or speak a low opinion of the God in me. I AM the Kingdom, I AM the Power, I am the Glory. I AM God in action.

4. “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it Holy”

I will always remember to take time to care for myself. Including relaxing, meditating, goal setting, visualizing, and giving thanks.

5. “Honor thy father and thy mother”

The Law within me honors my emotions and honors my intellect. My intellect and my feelings work together for perfect ideas, thoughts and evaluation to make successful decisions that are easy to accomplish and have prosperous results.

6. “Thou shall not kill”

I give life to ideas, to thoughts, to goals. I see the value in helping others by seeing good in their thoughts and ideas. My law is creative for all.

7. “Thou shall not commit adultery”

I live in moral integrity. This means I insure all my thoughts, actions and words are positive, upbeat, happy, kind or loving.

8. “Thou shall not steal”

I understand that nothing can be taken from me that really belongs to me as I cannot take something from another that does not belong to me. All I have is mine by right of consciousness and leaves me only when I choose to remove it.

9. “Thou shall not bear false witness against thy neighbor”

I am dedicated to speaking words of praise and appreciation. I tell only that which is mine to tell and not what comes through another person.

10. “Thou shall not covet thy neighbor’s house, nor his wife, nor his servants, nor his animals, nor anything that is thy neighbors.”

I am happy for my relatives, friends and acquaintances accomplishments. The more joyful I am about others good, the easier my own good comes to me.

Affirmations - what are they?

Words are very powerful.  A person on the spiritual path is aware of this keenly.  Words are like seeds that are planted and grow into the bushes, the trees, or  weeds and  thorns.   Beautiful seeds that are positive and loving will yield loving and positive results but seeds that are bitter will yield bitter results. Right Speech is an important tool in personal development.   Just as the way we think affects the way we speak, the way we speak affects the way we think In fact much has been written in the field of cognitive psychology about “self talk” and how this affects our self esteem and our interactions with others.  Being mindful of our speech can have a wonderful effect on all our relationships and most importantly upon ourselves.  Bad speech such as cursing scares children and offends many people.
There is also a metaphysical principle that your word is your wand; your speech has a powerful effect upon your life in fact creating your reality/life.  Thus it is wise to only affirm that which is good, speak well of your future and positively about what you wish to happen in your life and the world.  It is also wise for us to speak well of others and use our words to build people up. We should not tear them down. When creating affirmations think positively, creatively and learn to do this all the time throughout your life and throughout the moments of your life.  Let no idle or cruel words form from your lips and you will see an amazing transformation of your life.
Changing our speech patterns can be hard when we have developed bad habits of speech.  I once knew a minister who often joked sarcastically thinking it was very humorous but members of his congregation did not. After many years of good service his board was happy to convince him it was time for him to move on.  Even the last time I was visiting him, he was still doing it. He exclaimed: “I’ll be damned!”  This is not a very good example of Right Speech.  I was visiting him with a spiritual man who was interested in creating a partnership with this minister to do some very positive work but this changed his mind. He no longer wanted to partner with the minister. All because of a bad habit of speech.
The term affirmation is usually associated with a positive verbal statement that is made about some goal that we are trying to reach, or some experience we desire to manifest in our lives. Some say that the act of affirmation is an act of faith. It can be an act of faith but it is definitely using the power of your speech to reprogram your mind and through this to transform your life. We must remind ourselves that our words are prophecies that we fulfill. A great teacher once said: “It is done unto you as you believe.” Thus by using affirmations to declare a new and better path, by putting aside our doubts and fears and acting as if our desired goal were already a reality, we bring that reality into existence. Too many times people will declare a reality that is not pleasant and begin to live it. Like the woman who was always saying: “Oh what a pain in the neck.” When I first met her she was suffering from terrible neck pain and had been to osteopaths md’s and massage therapists. She was deeply unhappy and in pain. I pointed out to her that her language was creating her reality. She retrained her speech and her problem ‘miraculously’ disappeared. But I know it was not a miracle, it was just the power of Right Speech. In this sense, an affirmation can be any statement, act, or symbolic gesture that affirms the best reality that you intend to create. Through the process of affirmation we “act as if” our highest aspirations were already a reality, thus affirming it as our reality and manifesting it in our lives. Here are some links to affirmations for various situations below:   I invite you to use them.
